Job Description
We're currently recruiting a Special Facilities Operator to provide maintenance and upkeep for the facility located in Minneapolis.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversees total physical plant operational function of site. Provides maintenance and upkeep for the inside and outside of buildings; performs work within scope of authority and training; duties may vary according to job assignment.
  • Directs staff, coordinates assignments and schedules and monitors work methods and procedures: inspect buildings and grounds to verify work quality and effective use of resources
  • Orders supplies, creates work orders, tracks budget an expenditures, reviews and processes timesheets, maintains operational logs and prepares operational reports.
  • Cleans building, including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, washing and refinishing. Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms and restocks supplies, removes trash from classrooms, offices and hallways, replaces burned out lights, reports electrical and mechanical failures, cleans and adjust furnisher.
  • Cleans and maintains grounds, including seasonal lawn care and snow removal.
  • Performs preventive maintenance tasks, routine inspections, schedules maintenance and minor . repairs for machinery and equipment in MPS buildings.
  • Operates Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems. Checks mechanical systems operations, reports operational irregularities and repair needs to Area Supervisors & Maintenance.
  • Controls work site to assure that safety rules and regulations are adhere to, and that the work zone and all equipment are in safe operating conditions.
  • Follows manufactures directions for use and dilution of all chemical and clean products.
  • Recognizes, avoids and reports unsafe acts, conditions, accidents and injuries. Reports security issues and illegal activities, Performs office duties as needed.
  • Open and closes facilities and set security systems, responds to emergency situations including call backs for break ins and mechanical problems, assist with safety drills and annual cleaning duties.
  • Provides customer service as needed, responds to requests, and assists co-workers and visitors.
  • Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with students, clients, visitors, and MPS staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment


  • High school diploma or GED
  • Background check
  • 2 years experience operating and maintaining boiler/chiller plants
  • A valid 1st Class B High Pressure License or a valid 2nd Class B High Pressure License
